Retirement
I retired from the industry a couple months ago, and I've observed how difficult it is to keep up with the InfoSec industry, when you're not in the industry. Infosec is one of the fastest changing industries there is, and it requires daily attention, dedication to self education and a real passion for what you do. It's not a job you can finish at the end of the day and forget until the next day. Consider this when choosing InfoSec as your career. But if you're willing to put the time in and dedicate yourself to your career, it's one that is both satisfying and rewarding.

A great resource for those new to NetSec/InfoSec is The Infosec Survival Guide, put out by Black Hills Information Security. It has chapters on home labs, certifications, Blue, Red and Purple Teams and a whole lot more. You can access it by going to https://www.blackhillsinfosec.com/prompt-zine/prompt-issue-infosec-survival-guide-second-volume/
If you'd like a paper copy, you can get one for a buck at https://spearphish-general-store.myshopify.com/products/infosec-survival-guide-second-volume?variant=44436918632703. This is not only for those new to the industry. It has a ton of information for experienced folks too.
